The "Your Brokenness Is Welcome Here" Movement

“YOUR BROKENNESS IS WELCOME HERE.” We all have something in our lives that leaves us feeling a little broken inside. Maybe if the word, “broken” doesn’t bring anything to your mind, how about “struggle”, “shame”, or “burden”? Any of those ring a bell? (If not, great! Save this for later). Well, let me tell you, some pretty great news, no matter your brokenness, you’re not defined by it. You are worth so much more. And God, He loves and pursues your heart, no matter what. The statement above is what Jesus is all about.

Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us that God’s mercies are new EVERY morning. That thing that came to mind earlier that causes your brokenness, He’s going to take care of, not just today or tomorrow, nor after you complete some cleanse, but EVERY SINGLE DAY. You don’t even have to do anything other than recognize Him as your Savior in order for him to fulfill His promises. He is so faithful that you can count on it 10000%. Even if you have a hard time letting go and forgiving yourself. AND, what’s even more incredible is that He can use you and your brokenness for His kingdom. He leaves the ninety-nine to find the one every. single. time (Luke 15 ~Reckless Love~). It sounds crazy, I know, but He’s just that good.

It may be hard and painful to bring what you’re struggling with to the light- society today has created a culture of fear for being judged or looked at as “less than” by others in this department. Instead, it is so essential that we capture the grace, compassion and relentless pursuit of Jesus when it comes to spreading a sense of acceptance and love for those who are struggling or feeling broken. You are not alone.

I want to encourage a community that is open, is present and supports one another in their brokenness, no stings attached. A community- especially for us young women- that leaves cattiness at the door and accepts others’ brokenness alongside their own, rather than tearing one another down for it. If you’re hurting and feeling broken, I want to be able to listen to you, cry with you, help you find rest and bear your burdens with you, just as Jesus does.

Here’s another principal key though: it is so important that along with acknowledging our brokenness, we strive to move beyond it, rather than dwell in it. From experience, I know this is easier said than done. Nevertheless, placing your hope and joy in Him and fearlessly trusting in His promises is one of the best ways to do this, in addition to being in a caring and supportive community. He alone has the power to heal your brokenness if you let Him, and use it in ways you couldn’t even dream possible (Ecclesiastes 3:11). You, yes YOU…your brokenness…no matter how seemingly dirty/stained/messy/irreparable it may be, it’s WELCOME HERE.
